Watching the World Cup in Brazil got me to thinking about how World Cup fever has exploded  in the States. From sports bars and airports to public arenas, a cross-section of Americans have joined with the rest of the world to watch in rapt attention.  It just goes to show how assimilation has turned into a two-way phenomenon.
